Ferrosilicon is critically important for steel production. It is what enables the steel to be strong and good. It is something found in nature and then turned into something useful. We have to ensure that it is always the same, and clean. We must't generate too much waste or bad air when we process ferrosilicon. There’s new stuff going on around the world, and it’s exciting where we can start focusing when manufacturing ferrosilicon.
Ferrosilicon is to the production of steel what superheros are to the universe. It does make the steel stronger and less likely to break. When we combine iron and steel, we can make things we all use, such as vehicles, buildings and tools. Ferrosilicon is the “mystery ingredient,” the thing that makes all the other things interact for better performance. And without it, our steel wouldn’t be as great or useful.

One possibility on what we might use ferrosilicon for for is that we take some things that can be found naturally such as sand, coke and iron. Very hot, these materials are heated in a kind of oven called an electric arc furnace. The heat fuses it all into ferrosilicon. When it cools, it solidifies into hard, glossy material that is is ready to be used for steel production. It’s incredible how simple things from nature can become so important.

So it’s important that when producing ferrosilicon, it always looks like this and behaves in a consistent manner. We have to keep checking it to avoid errors. If it fails, the ferrosilicon will not be so good at making steel. It has to be very clean and pure, also, which means no bad things mixed in. We want it to be done as well as possible.

We don’t want to be producing too much garbage or bad air when we make ferrosilicon. This isn’t good for the environment and it can make people sick. “We have to figure out how to use less energy and generate less waste when we’re making ferrosilicon. This is good for the Earth and for all who live there.” Jinfengda is environmentally conscious and wants to make ferrosilicon in a clean way.
